GRACE'S 5TH BIRTHDAY PICTURES
|
Here are the pictures that we had taken for
Grace's 5th year of life. We were a hair
behind (2 months) from usually doing it
around her birthday.

LITTLE OLIVER EDWARD EGLAND IS HERE!
|
Crystal and Mark are the proud parents of a little boy! He has brown hair but
Erickson eyes, according to Grandma Nancy. I (Becca) asked Mark to write down his
thoughts about the whole thing, which he graciously did even though he must have
been very tired. Below is the email he sent me, along with the first pictures of baby
Oliver.
"Crystal's water broke around 4:45 p.m on Monday August 18th, 2008. We
ended up going to hospital around 5:30 or so. She was hooked up to monitors
soon after and the nurses checked the baby. Her contractions were pretty much 2-3
minutes apart the whole time after her water broke. She was allowed to get up and
move after it was determined that the baby was fine. Nancy was there for the first 3
hours and then Mandy showed up to help. Crystal didn't start pushing until about
9:30 p.m. From my estimates, she pushed three times for ten seconds at every
contraction. She pushed for two hours. So, she had 40 contractions at 30 seconds
of hard pushing. A total of 20 minutes of hard pushing. Wow, she is amazing! I
have new found respect for her and all women. The baby blessed us with his
presence at 11:34p.m. on August 18th, 2008. He was 7lbs. 4oz. and 20 inches
long. Oh, for all the women out there, she wanted an epidural, but the doctor for this
was unavailable, so she did this with practically no pain medicine. Once again,
wow, what an amazing feat of strength! The doctor delivering him said Crystal was
one of her best patients. The baby was cleaned and given to me, where I talked to
him. He even opened his eyes to see me -- I guess he recognized my voice. Praise
the Lord for this blessing, I am tearing up as I even write this. Soon after, we named
him Oliver Edward Egland."

STATS WINNERS
THE NAME 'OLIVER' S POPULARITY IS ON THE RISE
I checked the Social Security baby name index and the name Oliver has been
steadily gaining popularity since 1990. At one time(1881), the name Oliver was the
67th most popular name in America. It suffered a steady decline after that, however,
until it reached a low of 471st in 1986. In 2007 the name Oliver was the 140th most
popular boy's name in America.
