Everett Blanshan was born April 13, 1845 to parents Benjamin Freer Blanshan and Eliza
Russell Blanshan. On January 6, 1867 he married Alice D. Peters, daughter of Henry Peters and
Almira Hulse or Hulce. They resided in Deposit, Delaware County, N. Y.
Everett served in the Civil War first enlisting on October 13, 1861 into Co. C, 27th NYS Infantry.
He was discharged on February 9, 1863 at U.S. General Hospital, Fairfax Seminary, Fairfax Co,
VA. He then re-enlisted as a Sergeant on July 17,1863 into Co H, 1st NYS Veteran's Cavalry at
Elmira, Chemung Co, NY. He was honorably discharged and mustered out on July 20, 1865 at
Camp Pratt, WV. He fought in the Seven Days Fight, Second Bull Run, New Market, Piedmont and
Martinsburg.
Alice died in 1910 and Everett died May 22, 1918 in Deposit at age 73.
